The Science of the Human Body & Biomedical Solutions
Take a closer look at the science of the human body when you join our Biomedical Engineering camp! Through learning-by-doing experiences, you’ll begin to unravel the mysteries of the human body by running for a minute to measure heart rate, approximate energy expenditure and discover the importance of refueling with proper nutrition. You’ll explore how canes, artificial legs, and other therapeutic and assistive devices are developed; and identify the necessary tools to keep an injured heart going, such as balloon catheters, stents, and valves. You’ll use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine basic solutions related to insulation, artificial heart valves, prosthetics, surgical instruments, and diagnostic tools such as a model thermometer. Maintaining health and fitness is a lifelong endeavor, and before you know it, YOU will be the architect who supports healthy, comfortable living.
