Storytelling through Silent Movie Making
Lights, camera, action! In this Writers in the Schools (WITS) workshop, participants will work in small groups to design, write, and film short silent movies. Through a process of identifying elements of a story, creating a story board, and planning their scenes to be filmed, teens discover best practices for collaborating on a creative team. With a professional writer as their mentor, students will gain experience in directing, acting, and taking on various production roles. They will be inspired along the way with a visit from a local filmmaker. At the end of the week, teens will invite their family and friends to join in a showing of their short silent films. *Participants will be required to bring their own lap top, tablet or cell phone.
